Part I: Introduction

This part of the book explains the basic concepts of CVS and includes a quickstart guide that you can use if you're new to CVS and need to get CVS installed, configured, and operational in a hurry. Part I includes the following chapters:

Chapter 1

This chapter is an overview CVS, versioning systems, and the practical uses of CVS.

Chapter 2

If you need to get up to speed rapidly, this is the chapter for you. It explains how to build and use a basic CVS repository with default settings and a minimum of extras.
